Meet the artist

Hello, my name is Taliah, I am a traditional artist/picture book illustrator living in rural Ontario Canada.

I primarily work with watercolour

and pen.

 

I've been drawing since I could hold a crayon. There has always been a love of stories in my life, even though I have not always loved reading.  Growing up with dyslexia, made it very frustrating to get into reading. In fact I hated it, but I loved stories.  Illustration provided away for me to enter the beautiful world of books. Flipping through stacks of picture books on my bedroom floor, studying the details and their expressions, and filling my sketchbook with drawings. My mom would often read aloud to my siblings and I.  I loved scribbling away, imagining how I thought the characters might appear. Often there is an audiobook keeping me company while I paint. From early on there has been a soft spot for the underdog story, late bloomers, and different thinkers.

 

Painting whimsical characters, cosy scenes, odd scenarios, and fantastical moments brings me back to my love of story. When I'm not painting, I'm probably sipping a coffee, out for a walk, cooking something delicious, crafting something new, or watching something cosy✨
